Open-Source, Democratic Movie Theater

thumb bGheen Level: 880

I'm constantly impressed with the Alamo Draft House in Austin Texas. Not only do they show the usual freshly opened fare, they also show an incredible collection of cult-classics: everything from The Thing to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

The movies would be proposed, selected and voted upon via the web.

This got me thinking, wouldn't it be cool to have a theater entirely focused on older movies, classics that perhaps today's audiences haven't experienced in a theater or are just more fun as a group.

The movies would be proposed, selected and voted upon via the web. There would have to be rules of course, otherwise people like me would cause the theater to show Road House 24/7.  Perhaps a single movie could only be shown once a month.

The business model would have to streamlined, perhaps a single house, with a digital projection. Everything could be slightly-higher quality than average, as I suspect cult-classic fans would gladly pay $10-$15 for a seat.

Sounds fun huh?

If this works, maybe we can then build that Road House 24/7 theater...
